Basically the program combine the two worlds: Artisans + artists, Producing + Living; How to produce in living environement & how to live in productive fields?
We imagine an hybrid space, where the functions are not separated in layers but are inter-connected, visible by all, adding a dynamic aspect and value to the process.
The house should allow multiple “interpretations”, Atists & artisans should be possible to wander through the house infinitely!
The house is one continious flow warped around a curvy form courtyard, Artists & Artisans, locals & visitors, able & disable stronger together within a creative cluster.
The space appears to pulsate from narrow to wilde providing flexbility & variety in scale & in sequence.
The house offers an unseen integration of functions and spatial experiences. Inhabited relaxing areas are contrasted by efficient, transparent and social spaces of production, exhibition and teaching. A new urban combination where new ideas and concept for a healthy life style could flow freely between artisans, artists & the young generations of apprentices.
The house takes the best elements from the traditional structure, as an outset to create a modern campus experience that enhances knowledge sharing, production and creativity.
The building is organized as a city within a building, rich in diverse programs within a simple “Patio house”. Artisans can use various sections of the building and the open space throughout the building allows artists and artisans to interact in both planned and unexpected ways.
The mixing areas are where the house really comes alive - meeting and mingling with all the users.
The courtyard house encourages the community feeling by creating informal outdoors areas, which can be used by artists or artisans as a spontanious extension of their own atelier . A combination of multiple covered streets & internal passage make possible spontaneous meetings between people.
The artists studios are designed as flexible framework for workshops, studios, art experimentation & interaction. the double hight space provide adptable plateform depanding on the ongoing activities and the wear & tear of evryday life in the building.
The Artists house offers both private living spaces and communal areas such as a kitchen and living rooms. Nature contributes on a large scale to the concept of healing architecture and plays an extensive role in the design of the house. Nature is embraced through the surrounding landscape and the interior courtyard. The passage from the private living spaces creates seating spaces and niches, inviting people to meet each other on various formal and informal levels. The passage extends in selected place to create the common kitchen and living rooms.
